How Refined Concrete Started
Refined Concrete (originally Refined Coatings) was established in August 2012 by Grant Koehn and his brother, Brycen Koehn. Both Grant and Brycen learned the value of hard work and attention to detail while working at a local wood working shop with their Dad. Grant spent a couple of years in his teens working for a local concrete crew that specialized mostly in residential basements and flatwork.
The decision was made in early 2012 to start their own business specializing in concrete polishing and epoxy flooring. Roughly 2-3 years later, the company began pouring concrete while still primarily focusing on flooring. Sometime around 2019, Grant shifted his focus toward concrete placement, and by 2020, a dedicated crew was in place specifically for concrete work. From there, the concrete division continued to grow.
In 2024, Brycen chose to step away, and the coatings division was sold. As a result, Refined Coatings transitioned away from flooring and became Refined Concrete.
At the beginning of 2026, Grant partnered with Jorde Wiggers, who had been working with the company since early 2020. Grant's experience in the flooring industry reinforces the importance of quality flatwork, and our young, energetic team's passion for quality concrete flatwork and commitment to meeting the challenges of the trade have never been stronger. We look forward to providing you or your customers with the highest quality flatwork possible.
